At the age of only 21, Joseph Keith is a singer & songwriter, with a talent for catchy riffs and melodies.
Joseph Keith started playing guitar when he was 10 years old. In 2008, at the age of 13, he formed his first band, Backfire. Backfire played mainly cover songs of popular bands like Green Day, Blink 182, Good Charlotte, etc. They played local charity events in the DC area, as well as major night spots such as Jammin’ Java, JAXX Night Club and the 9:30 Club. It was during his time with Backfire that Joseph Keith first started writing songs. Some were recorded and performed by Backfire.
In 2009 Joseph left Backfire to form Nine Days Gone and became their principle singer/songwriter. Nine Days Gone’s has 2 albums available on iTunes. A self titled first album , and their second, As It’s Always Been. They performed regularly in the DC, Baltimore, Richmond area.
Also during this time Joseph started writing songs that reflect a slightly softer, more acoustic side. Inspired by such artist as John Mayer, Rob Thomas, Jason Mraz and the Goo Goo Dolls, he has written over 120 songs so far, which he also sings. His debut CD, A Lighter Side, was released in, 2011. His second album, Don’t Know Why, was released on March 23rd, 2012. The third Joseph Keith album, Not Done Yet, was realesed on January 31, 2013.
In 2013, Joseph became a member of ASCAP and NSAI; and signed
for management with Nashville based Barry McCloud Management and Productions.
Joseph worked with the late Barry McCloud as his producer on a new EP, Yesterday’s Gone, recorded in Nashville in June 2013. Although it was recorded in Nashville, it is not Country. It featured some of music’s top studio pickers who have played with Bob Seger, James Taylor, Nanci Griffith, Garth Brooks, Uncle Kracker, etc. Namely Chris Leuzinger, Garth Brooks’ long time guitarist.
Joseph’s next album, entitled Winter, released in March, 2014, received high ratings from music critics. It was recorded at Cue Studios in Falls Church, VA and features some of the area’s top session musicians. Produced by Jim Ebert. www.ebertaudio.com
Joseph’s latest album, Zen, was produced Austin Bello at Bello Studios in Gainsville, VA. Bello, a founding member and principle songwriter for the successful pop/rock band “Forever the Sickest Kids”, is now a dedicated producer set on discovering and promoting young talent. Once again, Zen received high ratings from music critics.
